CRANBOURNE Presbyterian Church is giving back to the community this Christmas in the way of song.
The church will hold its inaugural Carols by Candlelight this Sunday, 23 December, from 7.45pm in Presy Park.
Ginger and Merrily Hansen, Joshua Roberts, Iullianna Smalley, along with Presy carollers and musicians, will be performing on the night.
Pastor Peter Roberts said the church decided to host the carols as a way of giving back to the community.
“Christmas is about giving, it started with God giving his son Jesus Christ,” he said.
“Most of us get into the spirit of giving and expressing our love for each other at Christmas time.
“It is a real time for families and friends to connect in a special way.
“It is also a special time for communities to connect and be together.
“Community carol services do just that, we come together and remember what Christmas is all about.
“As a local church we have decided that one way we could serve Cranbourne into the future was to use the acreage of land we have at the rear of the church to hold such events as Carols by Candlelight.”
The event will be held on a newly built stage at Presy Park, at the rear of the church.
Pastor Roberts urged everyone to come along.
“Everyone is invited, come and bring a rug, good cheer and a heart prepared to be inspired by a rousing sing along, music and performances,” he said.
“In the rush of Christmas preparations, Cranbourne Presbyterian Church offers you time out to refocus yourselves and your families on the real meaning of Christmas as you enter into the holiday season and prepare for Christmas Day.”
Presy Park is at the corner of Russell and Childers Streets, Cranbourne.
