Filipino diversity on show

DOVETON singers will be part of a diverse Filipino community on show at an arts fiesta to be held next week.
The Filipino Arts Fiesta provides a chance to experience Filipino sights and sounds in a performance in Dandenong on 17 February.
The Centre for Philippine Concerns Australia Inc. has produced the show, which characterises the diversity of the Filipino community in the southeast region of Victoria.
The Doveton Filipino Choir and the Youth Dance Group R and K are performing in the show.
Directed by Carmelina Di Guglielmo, the event is a celebration of Filipino culture, and a showcase of the positive influences of the colonisers of their land, that has made them who they are today.
The large fiesta cast includes a mix of Filipino-Australia youth, and the integration of others of Asian, European and Australian backgrounds.
The Filipino Arts Fiesta will be held at the Drum Theatre, 226 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong on 17 February from 7pm to 9pm.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12.50 for children. Bookings can be made by calling the box office on 9771 6603.
