Boy in coma after near-drowning

A 15-YEAR-OLD Berwick boy is clinging to life after he was pulled from Lysterfield Lake on Saturday.
The boy was swimming with a friend about 6.45pm when he got into difficulty.
Police said he disappeared for about 10 minutes before he was found and rescued by his father and friend.
A group of four people, one of whom was a nurse, helped perform CPR on the boy until ambulance officers arrived.
Narre Warren South resident Jim Mihalopoulos was on a family picnic at Lysterfield Lake Park at the time of the incident.
He said it “was like a miracle” when the boy regained a pulse after 20 minutes of CPR.
The boy was taken to Royal Children’s Hospital and was yesterday in a critical condition. He has been placed in an induced coma.
The boy’s name has not been released.
