Morning tea raises $1000

By BRIDGET SCOTT

ABOUT 75 locals attended the Berwick Uniting Church earlier this month for a Biggest Morning Tea hosted by the Berwick Country Women’s Association (CWA).
More than $1000 was raised on Friday 16 May, when mainly women from the area attended the morning tea to raise money for the Cancer Council.
As well as an elegant spread of sweets which were made by varoious members, the day also invovled raffle prizes, including an intricate quilt which was made and donated by a member of the Berwick CWA.
Long-time members of the Berwick CWA Nancy Atkins and Dorothy Gilmour were among those who went to the morning tea, which local woman Mary McGrath said was a big success.
Both members and non-members of the group will be hoping that their upcoming event is just as successful as the last.
On July 18 this year, the Berwick Country Women’s Association will celebrate its 80th birthday.
Ms McGrath said plans are currently underway for the event and she hopes to see both former and current members come along.
