Cultural classic coming up

MORE than 150 Hallam dance students will be strutting their Sri Lankan skills in a massive concert this Sunday.
The second annual Traditional Sri Lankan Dance Performance is set to be a night of colour and fun as the audience is treated to a range of cultural dances from the Vishver Rangayathanaya group.
Studio director Rashika Kulasinghe said the event would be even better than the first show in 2005 that received several awards.
“Our first show won best Sri Lankan event from a community newspaper,” Ms Kulasinghe said.
She said the Hallam studio first opened in 2002 with the intention of sharing her passion and art of Sri Lankan dancing to children.
Every Friday and Saturday the Hallam Primary School hall turns into a training ground for the ambitious dancers.
The event will take place at Burwood’s Besen Centre with tickets costing $15. For more information or to book tickets contact 9793 4146.
