When less is good!

PUBLIC transport users will have a few extra dollars in their pocket after zone three train fares were removed this week.
Commuters catching the train from Berwick, Cranbourne, Hallam, Narre Warren and Merinda Park stations are just a few of the many people who will now save money with the new fares.
The State Government promised to get rid of zone three fares during last year’s state election.
The former zone three area will now become an extended zone two.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan was at Narre Warren station last week to get commuter feedback on the saving.
“This is excellent news for the thousands of passengers who travel to and from zone three every day,” Mr Donnellan said.
“These people will see significant savings on the cost of their tickets, with fares being cut by up to 50 per cent.
“For example someone who was travelling from a station that was previously classed as Zone 3 into Zone 2 would have paid $8.10 for a full fare daily ticket. From today that fare will be $4.30, representing a saving of $3.80 or 47 per cent.”
He said the initiative would help families who live in outer suburbs and would provide significant savings to the large number of people who travel into the city from these regions
