New chief executive in harness

CRANBOURNE Harness Racing Club has appointed long time industry participant and astute local businessman David Scott as chief executive.
Mr Scott will take the reigns on 1 April from Jacquie Richardson who announced her resignation last week after a six-year association with the club.
Ms Richardson was promoted to chief executive in July 2004 after a stint as executive assistant.
She has accepted a position with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, but will continue in a part-time capacity with the Cranbourne club until 27 April.
Ms Richardson applauded Mr Scott’s appointment.
“David has a long history in a wide range of senior management positions,” she said.
“He has been actively involved in harness racing as an owner for more than 30 years and currently serves on the Cranbourne Harness club committee.
“He is also a member of the club, as well as the Harness Racing Owners’ Association and the Victorian Square Trotters’ Association, so he has broad industry knowledge and expertise,” she said.
Mr Scott, 50, lives locally with his wife Linda and their two children.
Cranbourne Harness Racing president, Michael Taranto welcomed the appointment and paid tribute to Ms Richardson’s efforts over the past two and a half years.
“Jacquie has been an asset to the club,” he said.
“She made an impressive transition to chief executive and has worked hard to progress harness racing in Cranbourne.”
