Student’s super hero effort

By LIA SPENCER

A BOY with lots of spirit and a larger than life attitude will be channelling his favourite super hero in a major event this weekend.
Harrison Owen, an 11-year-old from Narre Warren North, will be dressed as The Hulk in the Run Melbourne’s kids running event, the Marvel Kids Run on Saturday.
The Haileybury student will join hundreds of other Marvel Super Heroes in a three kilometre run for kids and their parents.
His mother Faye said it was fitting that Harrison dressed as The Hulk for the event.
“It definately fits his personality. He has a lot of Spirit and a larger than life personality just like The Hulk,” she said.
“He recently got his black belt in Tai Kwon Do. I would like to have half his energy.”
Ms Owen said her son has inspired her to start running and get healthy after she ensured recent stints in the hospital due to ill health.
Harrison said he was proud of his mum for her efforts and looked forward to the weekend event.
“I really like running and I am good at it. I just want to show what I can do,” he said.
“I wanted to dress as The Hulk because he’s strong and courageous and he’s one of my favourite super heroes.”
Harrison not only has high hopes for this weekend’s event but also has some impressive long-term goals.
“When I am older I want to be either a veterinarian or an Olympic runner,” he said.

Alternately, entries will also be available from 9am at Alexandra Gardens on 20 July.
