THE metropolitan bowls home and away pennant season has come to an end.
At Hampton Park this year, selectors were pleased with the overall performance of all teams, with each finishing in the top four.
A secure base for next season is in place and with new players improving with each game, the future of the club looks good.
The A2 ladies team finished the season on a high with a five-shot win over top side Cranbourne RSL.
The score was 10-all after 14 ends when Jim Westwell, Dot Carr, Andrew Brandolin and skip Heather Naismith picked up 26 shots over the next 9 ends to win by 23 (36-13).
Rhonda Diaper, Gwen Clough, Ray Wood and skip Grace Hogan stayed in touch, finishing just 3 shots short (22-25).
With four ends to go, Sheila Scothorne, John Scothorne, Geri Graafsma and skip Mary Hose got stuck on 23 shots and had to settle for a draw (23-23).
Mavis Kelly, Ellen Smith, Ann Westwell and skip Chris Hendrie were equal at the break but could only win 2 ends in the run home (14-29).

Hampton Park 2-95 d Cranbourne RSL 0-90
The long trip to Middle Park in the night pennant was not a happy one for the Parkers, when they suffered another defeat at the hands of the top side.
Ray Wood, Keith Damon, Lance Davis and skip Geoff Ladner scored on only 6 ends to go down by 18 shots (8-26).
Multiple scores on 7 ends was all that kept Ray Leggett, Chris Hendrie, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie in the game (20-27).
Jim Westwell, Andrew Brandolin, Ann Westwell and skip Graham Slight were always there abouts, but not at the finish (1-19)
SDELBA Division 5
Hampton Park 0-39 lost to Middle Park 12-72
Playing their last game at home, Hampton Park were hosts to Burden Park in weather conditions that varied a lot during the course of the game.
A series of big end scores towards the end of the game had Les Unwin, Mark Paton, Robert Naismith and skip Graham Slight run out easy winners by 16 shots (34-18).
Vince Kovacic, Fred McBrian, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield were outplayed on the day finishing 13 shots down (15-28).
Control of the game was taken early by Paul Barna, Chris Hendrie, David Hendrie and skip Neville Hendrie to win by 8 shots (27-19).
In a finish that could have gone either way, Andrew Brandolin, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Geoff Ladner hung in there to win by 5 shots (28-23).

Their chance of second place slipped away when the Parkers went to Waverly Golf and lost to the host side by 26 shots.
The only win for the day was by Gerry Cox, Bill Tannahill, Heather Naismith and skip Keith Damon by 3 shots (27-24).
Unable to score a shot on the last 6 ends cost Pat Moevasa, Allan Unwin, Ray Leggett and skip Ray Wood the game (19-25).
Two shots in the second half left Bruce Pointon, Greg Pentland, Bob Nicol and skip Rob Woff well short of their opponents (8-26).
A poor second half saw the lead Lino Da Pos, Eddie Graafsma, George Pettitt and skip Bill Webb had, slowly slip away (21-26).
