Mick for Moto wave-off

By BRIDGET COOK

MICK Molloy will bring some comedic entertainment to this year’s MRA Cranbourne GP Run having recently been announced as the celebrity guest.
One of the country’s most recognisable and loved comedians, Mick will wave-off thousands of riders from High Street, Cranbourne, on their way to the Moto GP on Saturday 19 October.
The laid back larrikin is an actor, writer and producer and has been involved across television, film and radio.
He is particularly well-known for his success with the radio phenomenon Martin/Molloy, which he co-hosted with Tony Martin.
The show was broadcast on 54 stations nationwide and is still one of the most successful programs in the country.
Currently Mick co-hosts the channel 10 AFL football comedy program Before the Game and presents the Triple M breakfast show The Hot Breakfast, with Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy.
He also regularly tours his stand up show with fellow comedians Glenn Robbins and Jeff Stilson.
Mick’s credits are extensive including a writer-performer for The Late Show on ABCTV, has made special guest appearances in the popular local TV comedy Kath and Kim, as well as a regular panellist role with The Panel.
An accomplished performer, Mick also has film credits to his name including Crackerjack and BoyTown and produced and presented The Mick Molloy Show on Channel 9.
Mick is a motorbike enthusiast and a fan of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
“This event is the jewel in the crown of Victoria’s big events,” he said.
“I enjoy it so much I’m thinking of entering – and having done a hot lap on the back of a bike with Mick Doohan last year, I reckon I’m pretty much qualified as a MotoGP rider.”
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon said the council was thrilled to have Mike supporting the Cranbourne wave-off event.
“Mick is a popular entertainer, TV and radio personality and is sure to be a feature of the event,” she said.
“We are very excited to welcome Mick to the city’s biggest annual event where he will wave-off thousands of riders from High Street, Cranbourne, before they travel down to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.”
Thousands of people are expected to gather to join Mick in the wave off as Cranbourne’s streets come alive with free entertainment and activities in what has become Casey’s biggest and most popular free event.
The event will be held on Saturday 19 October in High Street, Cranbourne.
The event starts at 8.15am, with Mick waving riders off from a cherry picker at 10am.
Childers, Bakewell and Lyall Streets and Greg Clydesdale Square will add to the day’s celebration with a range of stall holders, activities and entertainment for the whole family from 8.15am.
The MRA Cranbourne GP Run is proudly supported by Star News Group.
