Lucky escape for mother, baby

A WOMAN and a 20-month-old baby were uninjured when the car they were in careered off a bridge in Berwick last week.
CFA officials attended the Golf Links Road scene last Thursday week and were astounded to find no one was seriously hurt in the incident.
A protective rail on the bridge had speared through the front window of the Holden sedan and missed the toddler in the back by only metres, CFA officials said.
The 25-year-old Frank-ston driver and the young boy were both taken to Casey Hospital and treated for shock.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, CFA crews were called out to a Hallam grass fire near Gunns Road Reserve.
Hallam, Hampton Park and Dandenong crews attended the blaze and had it under control before it could damage any property.
A CFA official said units were called back to the area several more times throughout the evening to control more fires.
