NARRE Warren’s Turf Three team failed to reach the grand final after losing the semi-final to Hallam at Casey Fields.
Hallam won the toss and elected to bat, and steady batting on a brilliant wicket was the order for the day.
Hallam faced its full allotment of overs, piling on a sensational 375 runs.
Best of the bowlers, who all toiled hard, were Steven Woodward (4/95) and Travis Brinkmann (4/81).
Needing four runs an over, Narre Warren got off to a great start with a 114-run opening partnership, Dwayne Thomson (69) and Matt Darvell (41) showing years beyond their age.
The loss of wickets hurt before Michael Sigaras (35) and Woodward (66) put on 98 to give the team a slim chance.
The loss of their wickets snuffed out any chance, with Narre Warren all out for 313 off 87 overs. Brinkmann put together a well-compiled 26 at the end.

Berwick who won the toss and elected to bat, starting solidly until Narre Warren’s Cory Thomson broke through for the first wicket.
A bowling change saw Ben Charles pick up two wickets in his first over to have Berwick 3/31.
Berwick then steadied but lost a wicket just before tea to be 4/95 off 45 overs.
After the tea break, excellent bowling and fielding saw Berwick out for 141 in 70 overs.
Best of the bowlers were Charles (4/27 off 18 overs), Brendan Jarman (3/44 off 24 overs) and Omar Baker (2/9 off 9 overs).
With 20 overs to face, Narre Warren finished at 1/8.
Day two didn’t start well with the team 3/10, then 4/29 when Baker went out for 10.
Peter Vassiliou was caught for 12 after batting for 47 overs and the score was 5/67, then 6/74 when Mark Jensen-Schmidt was caught on the boundary for 41.
Charles and Jarryd Leworthy took the score to 106, Chris Morse out caught behind and Narre Warren was 8/115 until Leworthy (39 not out) and Jarman (5 not out) carried it through to the end finishing with 8/144.

Playing Hampton Park away in the semi-final, Narre Warren lost the toss and bowled.
The players put in a sensational effort to dismiss the opposition for 115 after 59 overs.
Best of the bowlers was Mark Churchill, who bowled a brilliant spell to take 4/20.
He was well supported by Regan Welburn (3/36 off 25 overs) and Leigh Andrews (2/21 off 14 overs).
After facing 30 overs to end the day’s play, Narre Warren was 2/37 at stumps.
On the second day’s play, the team collapsed to be all out for 52, Gavin Maling the best batsman with 16.
Hampton Park was sent back in and bowled out for 65 with Andrews bowling an amazing spell to take 6/28 and Welburn 4/37.
Chasing 130 off 48 overs for a reverse outright win, the players dug in and pulled off an amazing victory to put themselves into the grand final, getting the runs in the 39th over with six wickets down.
Welburn was the best of the bats making 43 not out with a broken finger in an inspiring effort.

Narre Warren hosted Hallam in the semi-final with Hallam batting first.
Hallam made a steady start, losing its first wicket at 44.
Narre Warren then lifted a gear and a steady flow of wickets followed.
Unfortunately the players were unable to finish Hallam off, the team ending on 9/152. Best of the bowlers were Trent Anderson (2/17 off seven over), Lashlan Jayasuriya (2/15 off six) and Nathan King (2/39 off six).
Narre Warren in reply got off to slow start with great bowling by Hallam restricting the batsmen from playing their shots.
Narre Warren struggled to 6/61 until a great partnership between Matthew Harding and Chris Blanco helped the team to a respectable 8/111.
Harding scored 37, Matt Darvell 19 and Chris Blanco with 11.
Narre Warren wishes Hallam the best of luck in the grand final.

Playing St Mary’s, losing the toss and being sent in to field, Narre Warren soon had the opposition in trouble with early wickets.
With runs hard to come by, St Mary’s struggled to the break to be 4/54.
Narre Warren continued the pressure with Regan Todd taking 3/9 and Jacob Waller bowling his four overs without conceding a run.
St Marys finished with 133.
Narre Warren batted on day two but couldn’t get a partnership going.
The team ran out of overs, finishing on 113, with Kalen Murrian carrying his bat for 27.
