Active as ever

By BRIDGET SCOTT

AN ACTIVE expo at a Berwick Retirement Village will give over-55s the chance to see how they can be as fit as 77-year-old retiree Bill Isaacson.
Woodlands Park Retirement Village will host an Active Expo on 2 October which will highlight the number of fitness facilities available at the village, and the importance of remaining fit.
Bill Isaacson is a member here and is still as active as ever.
The member first began sport at age eight and has never looked back.
While he is often found sliding the slopes at Mt Baw Baw during the snow season, he is also no stranger to hitting aces on the tennis court at the retirement village.
Since moving to Woodlands Park, he has also joined the lawn bowls side which won the grand final in their division last season.
Woodlands Park Village manager Robert Stodolak is also eagerly anticipating the event.
“We’re certainly looking forward to the day and we’re extending the invitation to any over-55s who would like to come along for a fun event.”
“It will be a great opportunity to get a feel for the friendly atmosphere here at Woodlands Park and all of our facilities and leisure activities will be available for use.”
In addition to his tennis and lawn bowls, Mr Isaacson also sticks to a gym regime designed by his personal trainer and swims laps at the village’s pool a couple of days a week.
He said he has always enjoyed being active and making the most of life.
“I have always tried to keep myself in good knick,” he said.
“It helps to control stress and life is so full of precious.”
For those considering retirement living, the day will also be a great opportunity to have a look at some of the homes at Woodlands Park and meet some residents.
There will be a complementary barbecue lunch, line dancing, tennis, croquet and much more.
The Active Expo will run from 11am to 2pm at Woodlands Park, 72 Kangan Drive, Berwick.
To book, or for more information, call 8770 0250 by 7 October.
