ABDUL Rahman does not mind putting himself out for kids.
The Australian-born Islamic convert will run 14.7 kilometres in this Sunday’s Run For The Kids fun run in Melbourne.
Mr Rahman, 60, said his experience as a youth worker had enabled him to realise just how vulnerable and less fortunate some children could be.
“I could not think of a more worthy cause that helps out disadvantaged children,” the Narre Warren North resident said.
A percentage of every runner’s entry fee will go towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday appeal and with 30,000 participants the day should raise a lot.
“As children are having difficulties from all walks of life I think all the runners should come from all walks of life,” Mr Rahman said.
He was confident of finishing the race and had been training for the past eight weeks in preparation.
“My running coach has been very patient.”
He has also had assistance to adjust his running technique to make sure he gets over the line.
