Club set to bounce back

By Callan Date
NARRE Warren Netball Club is shooting goals on and off the court as they enter the 2007 season.
A new coach and a major influx of junior players have the club happy, but bringing a smile to everyone is a recent $3000 grant for change rooms.
The players have previously had to change in near by toilets or in their cars before matches.
Taping ankles and storing club equipment has also been a major problem but the acquisition of a new portable change room is set to put an end to that.
Casey Council has allocated the money to the delight of all the Narre Warren players.
The Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (MPNFL) Casey Cardinia netball team is in its fourth year and according to president Danielle Dawson is going from strength to strength.
Ms Dawson said the Kalora Park based club would field six teams this year and the early signs pointed to an encouraging season.
“We have a new coach (Belinda Jones) who has come on board this year which has been a great get for our club,” Ms Dawson said.
“She has brought a lot of experience to the club and a bit more professionalism.”
While the football club had a stellar 2006 by taking out the senior premiership, their netball counterparts failed to make finals in any grade.
However, the club is hoping to improve on that effort with the new coach at the helm.
Jones will coach the A and B grade teams and has generated some genuine enthusiasm throughout the club, Ms Dawson said.
The club will also have a C grade team along with under 13, under 15 and under 17 teams.
“We have some really encouraging junior players coming through which is creating some excitement, too.”
Ms Dawson said the club was always on the look out for any potential sponsors with a scoreboard the aim this year.
“We would love to have a brand new score board for the netball club,” she said.
Anyone wishing to help out the club this year can contact Danielle on 0402 223 082.
