A HAMPTON Park teenager has died after the ute in which he was travelling crashed and rolled, pinning him.
The 17-year-old died after sustaining serious injuries when the Toyota Landcruiser crashed in Tonimbuk at 1.15am last Friday.
Sergeant Peter Garton from Cardinia Traffic Management Unit said the ute was travelling along Jolly Road when the driver lost control and hit an embankment, causing the ute to roll over.
He said the teenager, who was travelling in the tray of the ute, was pinned under the vehicle for more than an hour.
“He was taken to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries, but passed away in hospital (Tuesday),” Sgt Garton said.
The driver, a 23-year-old Berwick man, and the front seat passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Altona Meadows, were not injured in the crash.
Sgt Garton said the Major Collison Investigation Unit attended and was investigating the incident.
Local police and the Pakenham Nar Nar Goon Road Rescue Unit assisted at the scene.
