Groups share in grants

NEARLY 20 Casey community groups will share in more than $44,000 after a volunteer grant program was announced recently.
Doveton Cricket Club, Cranbourne Tennis Club and Narre Warren South District Guides were three of 18 volunteer-based organisations to receive money to buy a range of much-needed equipment.
Senator Mitch Fifield said Scouting groups, parent groups and community centres also benefited from the grants.
He said the grants would be used to buy various items including laptops, printers, data projectors, photocopiers, cameras and barbecues.
The allocation of Federal Government funding to the groups was made possible after an additional $10 million was made available to the Volunteer Small Equipment Grants program.
