I REFER to the article Crossing Mooted in the Berwick News last week.
The article stated that I was writing to VicRoads on behalf of local residents to request the speed limit be lowered to 60 kilometres. That is incorrect.
I have written to VicRoads to request that the speed limit be lowered from 60 kilometres.
Many local residents feel that that the current speed limit is simply too high and that it is only a matter of time before someone is badly injured or worse.
The installation of a pedestrian crossing and the lowering of the speed limit will ensure that local residents can safely cross Magid Drive.
The fantastic work of Marlene Fox, Kerrie Puts and the local community deserves to be recognised. They have been fighting for this crossing for three long years and it’s time the City of Casey and Westfield worked together to get it done.
