Murder hunt goes on

POLICE are still on the hunt for the attacker who murdered 34-year-old Rani Featherstone in Doveton’s industrial area last week.
Homicide detectives are appealing for any more information that may help them solve the mystery surrounding the murder of Ms Featherstone whose body was discovered in Lace Street about 7am on Wednesday 2 April.
Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who may have been with Ms Featherstone in the days leading up to her death, particularly on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 April.
Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre said Ms Featherstone, from Doveton, was well-known in the area.
While detectives have spoken to a number of people, the investigation remains ongoing.
Sen Sgt McIntyre said last week that Ms Featherstone appeared to have been violently assaulted with what appeared to be an “edged weapon”.
No weapon has yet been recovered.
“She’s got some significant injuries to the upper body.
“We believe there was probably an edged weapon used in it, but what type and how many injuries she’s actually got we won’t know until a post mortem’s conducted later on,” he said last week.
Police extended the crime scene last Wednesday to take in Eumemmering Creek at the end of Lace Street and discovered some discarded clothing in the process.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
