Cavaliers on the rampage

By JARROD POTTER

THE unbeaten Casey Cavaliers continued their rampage through Big V Division 2 basketball with an 11-point win over Keilor Thunder.
Last year’s grand finalists were no match for the Cavaliers – as both teams struggled to get their shooting games going.
Casey will be disappointed to finish up with 32 per cent shot efficiency from the field, but made up for its wayward shooting with 50 rebounds – including 19 under the Cavaliers own hoop.
Import Matt Pebole (12 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) keeps edging closer and closer to triple-double territory, but will be annoyed by his inaccuracy, shooting 4/15 from the field.
Sharing the minutes and the stats in classic Cavaliers’ fashion, others to stand up notably were Bevan Camilleri (12 points, 5 rebounds), Matt Witherden (11 points, 8 rebounds) and captain Dean Johnson (6 points, 9 rebounds).
The perfect record – six-from-six – will be up for grabs again this week as Casey faces the Coburg Giants away on Sunday afternoon from 2pm.
The Cavaliers’ youth men also maintained its unbeaten record with a 86-52 walkover of Corio Bay. Sean Mckinnon (22 points, 9 rebounds) and Charles So (16 points) led the scoresheet while Alistair Parker (7 points, 9 rebounds) had a great deal of the ball at both ends.
Casey’s women will vie against Melbourne University on Saturday night before backing up the next day against Coburg from 12pm to regain the top spot they ceded on account of their bye.
