Schoolgirl trapped under bus for 20 minutes

AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl received serious leg injuries when she was hit by a school bus in Berwick last Friday.
Police said the Beaconsfield girl was on her way to school when the accident happened at the corner of Manuka Road and the Princes Highway about 8.15am.
Witnesses told the police the bus was attempting to make a right hand turn at the time and the girl was crossing the road.
She was trapped under the bus for about 20 minutes as emergency services crews worked to free her.
The girl was taken by ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital with severe leg injuries.
The Princes Highway, between Beaconsfield-Emerald Road and High Street, was closed for several hours after the accident.
