Congratulations should be given if and when it’s deserved.
The City of Casey has finally removed unsafe, dead oak trees that were part of the Avenue of Honor within the Narre Warren North township.
Over the many years it’s taken for council to achieve this, their only other main contribution to the memorial has been to post ‘re-dedication’ signs, on two separate occasions.
Council has also posted ‘6-tonne limit’ signs on the roadway memorial lines, however 10 tonne-plus trucks that supply the supermarkets use this roadway and are often responsible for ripping low hanging limbs off these oak trees.
A developer that worked on parkland under council’s supervision parked heavy machinery and materials directly under the mature oak trees, many that have just been removed.
Senior council staff that were responsible for the safety of the trees environment have failed in this duty.
Council also recently sent out letters to the residents dated 13 August 2014 indicating that on the 14 August 2014 the trees would be removed and replacement mature oak trees would be in “prior to the spring 2014”.
Possibly the worst time to replant mature, deciduous trees.
All the above is just a glimpse of the incompetency of council’s senior management.
So congratulations must go to its CEO for leading by example and showing the way.
