Hairspray’s fountain of fun

YOU can’t stop the motion of the ocean – and audiences couldn’t stop smiles spreading across their faces during Fountain Gates Secondary College’s production of Hairspray.
Musical director Tracy Boekel helped director Timothy Yarrow and choreographer Emily Parsons to present the adaption of one of Broadway’s biggest musicals, deriving from the 1988 film.
It opened to audiences at Hallam Community Theatre on 3 September and ran for four consecutive days.
Every show of the biggest production in the school’s history sold out.
Year 11 students Tahlia Marcos and Josh Strachan donned padded suits to embellish their curves and shone as Tracy and Edna Turnblad.
The cast gave up their afterschool social lives on Tuesdays and Thursdays to rehearse.
