Woman critical after vicious assault

A MAN has been remanded in custody after an attack in Narre Warren on the weekend that left a woman fighting for her life in hospital.
Benjamin Day, 27, faced an out-of-sessions court hearing on Sunday and was charged with intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.
Police allege the 32-year-old woman was assaulted in Madison Avenue, near the corner of Josephine Avenue, between 12.30am and 1am after leaving a nearby house party.
The woman, who it’s understood was known to Mr Day, was taken to The Alfred hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Mr Day also appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to return to court on 8 December.
