Pay it forward

DAN Andrews has committed Labor to a new station at Mernda in the west of Melbourne.
Well, as a resident of Cranbourne, I say to the people of Mernda ‘don’t hold your breath waiting’.
Our local member for Cranbourne Jude Perrera promised a station at Cranbourne East 12 years ago and we are still waiting but, of course, this is a safe Labor seat so we do not get infrastructure spending in this electorate.
Jude is only ever sited in our area around election time, making promises that are not kept.
Then there is the issue of the East West Tunnel, if it is needed or not, or should the money be used only on trains.
I ask the question to all people living in Melbourne, what would the congestion be like travelling to Melbourne if we did not have the Burnley Tunnel, or if the West Gate Bridge, or the Bolte Bridge had not been built?
This state desperately needs infrastructure money spent on roads, tunnels and trains, an airport in the East of Melbourne, and if it is in partnership with the private sector money all the better for then posterity helps pay for it, not just the present day taxpayer.
Peter Giles,
Cranbourne.
