Statistics proves the need for an increase in numbers of first response police officers for Casey.
The state average is 102 for every 100,000 persons – Casey has 60 for every 100,000 persons.
Casey’s population is expected to soar by 13 per cent over the next five years – this would exacerbate the problem further.
These statistics (Cops Cry For Help, News, 9 October) certainly crys for help.
The wheels of government move painfully slow.
I earnestly urge the contestants viewing for election in the forthcoming state elections to place the need for beefing up the police numbers in the district of Casey as a priority.
Hand in hand I urge residents to be vigilant, look out for your neighbor, with a nosey mentality.
Endeavour Hills has already had its unwanted, harrowing experience of attack on a policeman, stalwarts defending our community. “Prevention is better than cure.”
I urge the State Government to place the region of Casey on its priority list for increase of police numbers.
