I REFER to the letter from Don Moyes (Dereliction of Duty, News, Opinion, 9 October).
In my 20 years on council I have only replied to one other letter in the opinion section of the paper.
I find it remarkable that a man who has been trying to get a resolution to a problem for 13 years and now attacks Cr Susan Serey because he did not get an answer to you within a month or two.
Don, you’re becoming a grumpy old man like me – and in all those years I have never seen you write a kind word about anyone.
Talking to Susan, she informs me that she has replied to your calls.
We attack young people for not putting their hands up and committing. And this young lady has and you abuse her for doing so.
And at the end of your letter you have a throw away line that it’s your turn next.
Well you have to put your hand up to be elected and she has the courage to put hers up and to be judged by the people in Narre Warren South.
And my throw away line is that she is getting a favourable response from the officers.
So it looks like she has achieved it for you.
This is a remarkable young lady who works as hard as anyone I have seen on council in all those years.
The City of Casey is a better place because of Susan Serey and I’m lucky to have her as my ward partner.
Mick Morland,
Edrington Ward councillor,
City of Casey.
