Ted’s miracle on sixth

CARDINIA BEACONHILLS GOLF

ON SATURDAY, a field of 144 players took to the course for the Beaconhills Plate.
All grades returned impressive scores with Bronwyn Hampson (27) winning on the day and returning the best score in the C Grade with 46 points.
The A Grade winner was Ivan Furyk (7) with 44 points while in B Grade, Shane Wheat (10) returned the best score with 44 points.
Sunday’s Par event was won by Vern Hill (19) with plus five. The annual ‘He Hits It She Hits It’ fun nine-hole competition kicked off at 2.30 with a shotgun start on Sunday afternoon. Great fun was had by all in fine conditions with Brian Meneilly and his wife Bronwyn winning this year’s He Hits It She Hits It event.
Cardinia Beaconhills’ Come and Try Day was also held on Sunday with the new sport of FootGolf being the main attraction.
MIDWEEK
Playing off a handicap of 10, Andrew Barcham returned the best score in Tuesday’s Stableford event winning the A Grade with an impressive 46 points. Brad Mars (20) returned the best score in the B Grade with 43 points.
The highlight of the day was however when 87-year-old Ted Fleming scored a hole-in-one on the sixth hole on Tuesday.
Joe Karac (11) returned the best score in the A Grade in Thursday’s stableford competition with 44 points. Graham Martin (17) was the B-Grade winner also with 44 points.
LADIES
The Women’s 13-hole stroke event was won by Heather Hamilton (15) on Wednesday with 47 points. Helen Lang won nearest the pin on the sixth Hole.
