Come on council

MY IMPRESSION, mistaken or otherwise, was that our sitting councillors were elected by us the citizens of the City of Casey to be our advocates, to look after we the residents regarding all issues affecting our city within the city environs.
Apart from the obvious outrage being displayed, my own included, regarding their promotion of interests far outside the city boundaries, I’d like to take council to task on another matter – their failure to notify the residents of the streets surrounding the Casey Central Shopping Centre of the impending commencement of works upgrading this shopping centre.
I thought it was council’s responsibility to keep on top of projects happening within the local area and inform residents of impending developments.
Westfield however notified us a week before site works commenced.
One wonders where Sam Aziz and Louise Berkelmens, our so-called advocates, were when all this was happening.
Perhaps their minds and actions were preoccupied with Liberal Party policies and projects far beyond Casey.
While we have known of the above shopping centre extensions for a number of years now, most of the residents were under the obviously mistaken impression that shopping centre extensions would not commence until the totally necessary upgrade of the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road was completed, projected by VicRoads to be November 2015.
We now have two major projects occurring simultaneously on our doorstep, both causing increased traffic congestion within the area.
Come on council, do your job, know what’s going on in your area or are you too busy letter-dropping Liberal Party literature promoting Susan Serey’s bid for a Liberal seat in the upcoming state election, as I spotted one well-known councillor doing in our street recently.
