Youth go berserk

A YOUTH event held in Berwick spun out of control last week with police called to the scene.
On Thursday 20 November around 11.30pm local police, as well as specialist crowd control units from Melbourne, attended the Salvation Army Hall and Parkhill Plaza Shopping Centre in Berwick to break up a brawl between two groups.
Both groups of males were in the area for an alcohol free event that planned to raise funds for migrant communities.
A large number of African and Pacific Islander youths attended and a brawl erupted inside the venue and continued outside.
Police were called to the scene where bottles were thrown at those who attended. Police, however, managed to break-up the fight with no injuries sustained by members.
