LOCAL MPs have expressed their gratitude towards former Victorian Premier Steve Bracks.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan and Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley were quick to thank Mr Bracks for his contribution to the Casey area during his reign as State Leader.
And Cranbourne MP Jude Perera was also full of praise for his old boss.
All three Labor MPs said Mr Bracks had done an impressive job in running Victoria.
“He was very easy to work with and very easy to approach,” Mr Donnellan said.
“I would probably say he was the most approachable leader of any political party I have had the fortune of working with.”
John Brumby has since replaced Mr Bracks in the top job.
Ms Graley said: “Steve Bracks is a great bloke and he always showed good judgement and humility in his politics.
“In making this decision to resign, these personal qualities are apparent.”
She said Mr Bracks had left Victoria in a strong, safe and prosperous position.
“I am sure everybody in the Labor team will get behind the new leader.
“Congratulations to Steve Bracks for the terrific work he has done for all Victorians and I wish him and his family happy times together in the future,” Ms Graley said.
Mr Perera echoed Ms Graley’s thoughts.
“As with anything in life, family comes first, second and third,” Mr Perera said.
“Premier Steve Bracks has served Victoria with great distinction. I have enjoyed working with the Premier since taking the State seat of Cranbourne in 2002.
“I would like to wish Premier, Steve Bracks and his family all the very best for the future and look forward to working with his successor, John Brumby MP,” Mr Perera said.
Looking to the future Mr Donnellan said: “I congratulate John Brumby on the appointment and I’m very pleased to hear that he will focus on the outer suburbs.”
“Having previously worked with Mr Brumby I’d say there is no sharper mind in politics and I relish the chance to work with him.”
