More stores for Fountain Gate

FOUNTAIN Gate is set to boast more than 110 new stores if Westfield gets the go ahead for a $200 million extension.
About 1300 jobs are also expected to be created during the construction phase of the project, which is, pending City of Casey approval, due to start late next year.
And 1000 more ongoing employment opportunities will be on offer when the extra 28,000 square metres of retail floor space is opened.
Westfield manager corporate affairs Julia Clarke said construction would take about 15 months.
A major department store is set to join existing traders Target, Kmart, Big W, Coles and Safeway in the massive shopping precinct.
Once finished, the shopping centre will have a total of 383 stores and an extra 1200 car parking spaces.
Narre Warren Chamber of Commerce president Bob Burns said with the large growth of the Casey area, the expansion of Westfield was to be expected.
Mr Burns said the move signalled exciting times for the area with the recently approved $90 million Casey Towers project also set to happen.
Casey Towers will include hotel bars, a gymnasium and serviced apartments in a project that is set to boost the entertainment and business capacity of the growing Casey population.
The Fountain Gate proposal is expected to go before Casey Council shortly.
