Children hurt in two-car smash

FOUR children were seriously injured following a collision in Narre Warren last Friday.
Police said a blue Nissan Nomad van was travelling south through the intersection of the Princes Highway and Webb Street when it was involved in a collision with a silver Nissan Pajero about 6.30pm.
Four children in the van – three girls aged seven, 10 and 13, and a boy, 12 – were taken by ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
A four-year-old child was taken to the Monash Medical Centre for observation.
The driver of the van, a 34-year-old Hampton Park woman, was also taken to the Monash Medical Centre for observation.
The seven occupants of the Pajero escaped injury.
The Hampton Park woman was issued with a penalty notice for failing to obey traffic lights, fined $220 and lost three demerit points.
