Final hopes alive and kicking

NARRE WARREN BOWLS

Saturday’s Division-2 side playing away to local rivals Berwick won after a close game with a tie a loss and two rinks up by six shots 80/74, to keep third position on the ladder and finals hopes alive.

Saturday’s Division-3 side played host to Berwick, and with a new look side due to players unavailable are fighting to stay above the relegation zone. After being 21-shots down at the break with all four rinks down they showed determination and fighting spirit to claw their way back for a 16-shot win and all rinks winning – a great effort by the side.

In a danger game at home to Ringwood, Saturday’s Division-7 side – still sitting on top of the ladder – had their worst game for the year. With two rinks up and two down they were beaten on the day 72/87. The loss didn’t do too much damage, the side remains in top spot on the ladder – it may be the loss was the one they had to have, reinforcing the fact they have to be on their game every week. With players available next week they can look forward to a stronger line up.

Tuesday’s Division-1 side were always going to be in for a tough day, playing at home against top-side Mulgrave. Winning only one rink and going down 53/67 the season has been disappointing for the side after playing finals last year. Hopefully they should remain in Division 1 next season.
