A NARRE Warren man was left shell-shocked after a greyhound let of the leash lunged at him during his morning walk.
Patrick (who didn’t want his last name published) was walking along the Princes Highway towards Wilson Park around 6am in December last year when the black greyhound lunged and snapped at him.
Patrick, uninjured in the incident, said the dog’s owner was standing nearby.
“As I got closer, this black greyhound just came towards me and came up and snapped at me within half a metre,” Patrick, 45, said.
“I’ve never experienced anything like that before. I had a few words with the guy and I told him that I could report that.
“The owner was holding the lead, and I told him that he needed to control his dog and the guy said it must be me with the problem.
“He said I must have a problem with dogs.”
Patrick, who owns a pet Maltese dog named “Cookie”, reported the incident to a City of Casey and has called for the greyhound to be muzzled.
“It was a scary situation,” he said.
“I was scared; it was completely unexpected and unjustifiable. I did nothing wrong and I was made to feel very uncomfortable.
“The owner needs to muzzle the dog – it’s as simple as that.”
