Award leaves company beaming

A HALLAM company has won the 2007 National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Commercial Small Project Category award.
Electrical Design and Construct received the prestigious award for their work on a new office and warehouse complex in Laverton where providing lighting for high roofs was a unique challenge.
Company official Stuart Barker said he was particularly pleased with the award because the warehouse high bay lighting and exterior lighting presented different challenges to the office electrical requirements.
“Height was a major factor but we still managed to achieve a first class installation, with very satisfied clients, including the developer, builder and tenants,” Mr Barker said.
The NECA Excellence Awards are the nation’s most prestigious showcase of electrical contractors’ work carried out over the past year, award officials said.
The strictest standards are imposed throughout judging, with winners in each category going on to compete for the national awards.
Electrical Design and Construct will be in the running for higher accolades when the National Excellence Awards dinner is held in November.
NECA Victoria CEO Philip Green said safety was a high priority in the construction.
“In this case with high ceilings in large spaces, safety was a key imperative. Electrical Design and Construct maintained high in two senses of the word – quality and occupational safety management was top class,” he said.
“These awards are a unique opportunity for our members to receive recognition of their outstanding projects from peers, the industry, clients and the wider community,” he said.
