MONICA Boland is a super boss in more ways than one.
And today (Thursday) Monica, owner and manager of Visionaries in Narre Warren, will be wearing a cape to prove it.
The hardworking Monica is throwing her support behind Super Boss Day – Thursday 19 February – an initiative which encourages managers to dress up as superheroes in order to raise money for HeartKids Victoria.
HeartKids Victoria/Tasmania is a non-profit organisation that provides support to children with Childhood Heart Disease and their families, while raising awareness and vital research funding for the chronic disease.
Monica will be donning a ‘Super Girl’ costume to do what she can for the cause.
“Several months ago, I was approached by a few people who had kids who have had heart problems and this event sounded like a great way to help,” she said.
“Everyone has been having a bit of a giggle.
“I’ve done fund-raising before, but nothing quite to this extent!”
Super Boss Day was created by HeartKids to not only raise awareness for the organisation, but to provide a team building environment for colleagues to work together in reaching a fund-raising goal.
“We’re happy to help wherever we can,” Monica said of the team at Visionaries.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Australian children under one year old, while heart defects are also the most common birth abnormality in the country, affecting one in 100 babies.
Visionaries, based in Narre Warren, is a leading provider of accounting and business software.
