Second chance for funds

VICTORIAN Senator Mitch Fifield has called on local schools to apply for the second and final round of funding for the National School Chaplaincy Program.
Mr Fifield said the program supported local school communities in accessing the services and support of a school chaplain.
“I encourage all local schools to consider applying for up to $20,000 per year for three years to support a school chaplain,” Mr Fifield said.
“The Federal Government is investing $115 million over three years to help establish new chaplaincy services or expand existing services in local schools.
“In the first round of the program, a number of independent and government schools successfully gained funding.
“This second round offers schools who did not apply in the first round an opportunity to gain access to these services.”
He said schools that were unsuccessful in the first round were automatically reconsidered for the second round.
Applications close on 22 August.
