More players, coach wanted

By BRIDGET SCOTT

ORGANISERS of an all-abilities football team in Cranbourne have called for more players and a coach to take the team forward this season.
Julie Cass, co-ordinator of the Cranbourne All Abilities football team, said they were in need of more players as well as a coach.
The team, which is affiliated with the Cranbourne Football Club and based at Casey Fields, has operated for six years and offers a place for people aged 14-40.
Ms Cass said the team was open to anyone with an intellectual or physical disability with about 20 players on the list so far.
With the first training session for the season last Tuesday, Ms Cass said they hoped to attract at least a dozen more boys, girls, men and women to the side.
“It has a really good social network for both guys and girls,” she said.
“We have about 20 players on our list at the moment, but I’m not sure if they will all return.”
“We would love at least 12 more.”
Ms Cass said her own son, who was nearly 31, played and was a foundation member of the club.
“Ricky is one of the original members,” she said.
“He really enjoys Aussie Rules, the social aspect and getting out there with his mates.”
The team has both home and away games, however Ms Cass said getting to places wasn’t an issue for those involved.
“We always find methods of transport, we often car pool and things like that,” she said.
Ms Cass said they were “all very accepting of each other” with a variety of different team members among the lot.
