SUNKIDS Children’s Centre in Berwick has become the first early childhood service in the City of Casey to receive a Kids – Go For Your Life Award.
Casey mayor Colin Butler presented the award to the centre’s staff recently and congratulated them on their commitment to achieving the program’s key goals.
“Sunkids is leading the way in promoting a healthy environment for the children at their service by incorporating the physical activity and healthy eating principles of the Kids – Go For Your Life award program in their policies and receiving this important award,” Cr Butler said.
The Kids – Go For Your Life award program promotes six key messages – Tap Into Water, Plant Fruit and Veg in Your Lunchbox, Limit ‘Sometimes’ Foods, Move, Play and Go, Turn Off Switch to Play, and Stride and Ride.
Cr Butler said Casey is committed to supporting the program at the local level and 52 schools and early childhood services across Casey are currently working towards their Kids – Go For Your Life award.
“I strongly encourage Casey schools, preschools and childcare centres to continue their progress in the Kids – Go For Your Life challenge which will demonstrate that creating healthy lifestyles for children is a high priority for our city.”
