CASEY Council will ask the State Government to establish an express nightrider bus to service the Casey-Cardinia growth corridor.
The decision was made at last week’s council meeting after councillor Lorraine Wreford raised the issue.
Cr Wreford said the push to have an express service for Casey residents was a result of current nightrider travelling times to Dandenong exceeding 90 minutes.
“Young people deserve a chance to get out to the city and back home,” she said.
Councillors have been attempting to get a nightrider service to Casey for several years with no success.
The nightrider services Frankston, Dandenong and many other large municipalities across Melbourne but does not extend to Casey.
A copy of Casey’s submission to the State Government will also be sent to local State MPs requesting their support.
