Dogs track car thief

POLICE dogs were used to track down a Narre Warren man who ran from police after a high-speed police pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
At about 2.15am on Friday 1 May, police attempted to intercept the Holden Utility seen driving along the Princes Highway in Officer.
The 27-year-old Narre Warren man, driving a 21-year-old Narre Warren North woman, refused to stop for police and sped off.
Police members pursued the vehicle until it experienced a mechanical failure and stopped mid-road. Both the man and woman dumped the stolen car and fled police on foot.
The woman was apprehended by police soon after taking chase while the canine unit was sent in to locate the male driver.
Both occupants were charged with a string of offences related to the theft of the car, exceeding the speed limit and evading police.
The pair have been remanded to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
