WHEN Narre Warren student Rachida Wahid entered a competition to design a logo for Schoolies Week she never expected her design would be associated with Schoolies events all over Victoria.
Miss Wahid was surfing the internet when she came across an advertisement asking VCE students to design a logo for Schoolies Week 07.
“I saw the ad and thought it might be fun, so I entered the competition,” she said.
Within a month Miss Wahid received a phone call from the government agency Youth Central telling her that her design was successful and would be the Schoolies Week logo for 2007.
The winning design incorporated a deckchair in front of three wave shaped lines.
Miss Wahid described her design as an attempt to include all of the fun and celebrations of Schoolies. She explained that the waves of green, orange and blue signified the waves of the ocean.
“Everybody seems to go down to the coast to celebrate the end of school, I wanted to include this in my design,” Miss Wahid said.
“The deckchair is supposed to illustrate relaxation, something all students will be doing after the final exams.”
As part of recognition for her design Miss Wahid received a Hewlett Packard laptop computer.
