A WELL-KNOWN parish in Hampton Park celebrated a very special birthday recently.
Hundreds of people turned out to help the St Kevin’s Parish celebrate its silver jubilee, with priests past and present among the throng of people paying their tributes to the church.
“It’s a blessing for us to celebrate 25 years in our community who are so very multicultural and multilingual but who share one faith in Christ,” current Parish Priest Reverend Father Albert said at the celebration.
“In the name of Christ, the people of this parish will continue to serve the church and the community of Hampton Park, Lynbrook and Lyndhurst.“
Revered Peter Elliott conducted the mass at the event, while St Kevin’s Primary School Principal Anni Myers was one of many school staff members who also attended.
St Kevin’s Parish relocated to its current home on Hallam Road from a smaller church on Somerville Road, after numbers continued to grow.
Casey Councillor Damien Rosario joined Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley in attending the special event.
“St Kevin’s Church and School have guided our youth and community for many years and contribute so much value to our community,” he said.
“It was wonderful to celebrate in their longevity and work in Hampton Park.”
