Youth empowered to take leadership roles

APPLICATIONS have now been opened for the 2015-16 Casey Youth Action Committee (YAC).
Potential candidates – aged between 15 and 25 and who live, work or study in Casey – have until Friday 19 June to apply for a position.
“The Casey YAC is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference in your community, learn new skills, gain a better understanding of council and become great role models to your peers,” Casey Mayor Mick Morland said.
“The program aims to empower young people as genuine leaders in their community and support them in developing their leadership skills and fulfil leadership positions in the community.
“The committee will work with council and other like-minded young people to deliver projects on the topics and issues which are important to them and represent the views and ideas of young people.”
Youths interested in being a member of the new committee must complete an application form and be willing to participate in an interview.
Successful applicants are expected to commit to a 12-month term and attend one meeting every three weeks.
For more information and to download an application form visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/youth.
