THE tough start to the Berwick Miners’ Gridiron Victoria Division 1 season continued on Saturday at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, going down 14-0 to the South Eastern Predators.
The Miners have had a horror start to the 2015 season with injuries to a host of key personnel and on Saturday they were shut out by one of the form teams of the early rounds.
It seemed a perfect storm of circumstances had conspired against Mel Martin’s men, who just can’t seem to buy a trick at this stage.
The Miners’ game was the first of three on the card on Saturday at Parkville, following the Gridiron Victoria Women’s All-Star Game that took place the night before.
Both sides competing in the All-Star game featured a number of Berwick Diamonds players, with ‘Team Fire’ melting ‘Team Ice’ 28-20.
The Miners will look to bounce back this Sunday when they host the Melbourne Uni Royals from 1.30pm at Sydney Pargeter Reserve in Endeavour Hills.
