Pencil leaves lasting impression

AN array of artworks which showcase the Power of Pencil are currently on display at the City of Casey’s Civic Centre Art Space until Friday 3 July.
The exhibition features a variety of drawings by internationally acclaimed award-wininng artist Janet Matthews and her students, who bring their own individual flair to the exhibition.
City of Casey Mayor Mick Morland encouraged residents to head along to the Art Space and view the beautiful drawings on display.
“Janet is a long-standing member of the Casey community, who is renowned for her detailed and realistic pencil drawings of Australian birds and animals,“ Cr Morland said.
“Janet has exhibited all over the world, has artwork in a permanent collection of the New York State Museum and her drawings have also featured on stamps commissioned by Australia Post, so council is very lucky to host her in our Art Space for local residents to enjoy.
“Janet enjoys sharing her skills and love of drawing with adults and children, and a number of her students’ works are also featured in this exhibition.”
