A CRASH outbound on the Monash Freeway involving several cars caused chaos for peak hour commuters, closing one lane and causing long delays.
The accident, before 4.30pm between the Narre Warren and Berwick exits involved up to five cars.
Outbound traffic was slowed from Warrigul Road, and alternative routes were advised.
Both outbound lanes were re-opened after 5pm, but traffic remained heavy.
VicRoads advised delays of up to 70 minutes from Toorak Road, in an update on the VicTraffic site at 5.40pm.
