Village gets

THE first stage of the City of Casey’s $1.17 million Streetscape Project in Berwick Village has been completed.
Business owners and shoppers are enjoying the overall improved appearance that has come with kerb and pavement rehabilitation works.
New coloured concrete footpaths and defined alfresco dining areas adjacent to the shopfronts along both sides of High Street have been completed.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said: “The project has improved the overall ambience of Berwick Village for businesses and shoppers.
“Visitors can now enjoy the new alfresco dining areas which I’m sure will be extremely popular during the coming warmer months.”
Landscaping, including garden beds, new trees and paving as well as street furniture and other road related infrastructure comprising new pedestrian crossings have also been completed.
Stage two, which includes works in the median strip along High Street, is planned for construction in mid to late 2008.
The streetscape works will make sure Berwick Village remains one of the most popular and most attractive strip shopping centres in Casey.
