A LONG and proud history was celebrated at the Beaconsfield Football Club on Saturday at the club’s Past Players and Officials Luncheon at Holm Park Reserve.
Past players president Michael Fisher conducted interviews with current-day senior coach Clint Evans, and players Damien and Daniel Johnston, while club historian Lawrie Canning spoke with passion about a club that has tasted the ultimate success on nine occasions in its 125-year history.
Past players from the 1950s, Lou Russell and Laurie Barnes, returned to the club after an extended break while the number-one ticket holder, 91-year-old Alex Robson, made it to his eighth home game of the season.
The stand-up cocktail party style allowed guests to mix and relive some great stories from their glory days.
An 11-minute video highlighted some of the club’s former strips and brought back memories of the mud-stained days at Perc Allison Oval.
The club also showed off its proposed 2016 Anzac Day guernsey, which was designed by local school children.
